Our name was chosen with these fine people in mind, no less, so the Allotment couldn’t be happier to announce that She Keeps Bees will be joining us on 27th January. We have support from Lulu and the Lampshades plus one more act TBC.

As ever there’ll be For Folk’s Cakes (including tiffin) and Anika in Fruit. This time we’re moving to a bigger venue to accommodate the Beekeepers and all their fans. It’s the Black Heart in Camden, and it’s right across from Camden tube station. Easy. (Map.) Tickets are £6 in advance from We Got Tickets.

We hope to see you there!

Stuff we LOVE

Wears the Trousers

There’s all sorts of reasons to love WTT

1. Alan
2. Good writing
3. Covers wonderful people like Marissa Nadler, Alela Diane, Ane Brun and Alessi
4. Has lots of good interviews that seem like they were the products of a nice chat over a cup of tea

Broken Sound

Broken Sound is run by pal-of-the-allotment Chris. Here’s why we like it.

1. Chris
2. Forest Fire
3. Peggy Sue
4. Having the right (nice) attitude to releasing music.

Bella Union

Bella Union is the nicest proper big little label. It has Fleet Foxes, Andrew Bird, Beach House, Chimes and Bells, Vetiver and The Low Anthem. They are inspiring cos they’re managing to run a proper business without compromising on the quality of their artists or integrity. Check out their whole roster, there’s not a dud on it.

Our lovely friend Sebastian took some videos of Alessi playing at The Allotment:

Here is The Dog:

That one is nice because I am sitting about 1 foot away from Alessi and look happy. How nice.

Here is a newer one, Walk The Wire:

Listen to Alessi! Her Myspace is here. If I ruled the world we’d have Alessi at every Allotment.

Tickets.
